Application to Tyee
Try Tyee is part of our formal application process and is used to help us determine if your child is ready for the Tyee Ski Club.
During Try Tyee your child will ski alongside our coaches and participate in simple drills designed to understand their ability and their willingness to participate. Our program is NOT a learn to ski program and so we use Try Tyee to ensure that everyone that joins is ready for the program.
Only selected applicants will be invited to Try Tyee and all of the details will be provided at that time including the location, time and associated costs. The cost for the day will cover your access to Grouse Mountain for one adult from the same family and your child.
We look forward to meeting both you and your children.
When does it happen?
All Try Tyee events are scheduled in March and April annually. Check our website or our Facebook page regularly to receive the most up to date information.
Where does it happen?
Normally Try Tyee is hosted at Grouse Mountain. However, if there is not enough snow then we may host it at Whistler.
What if I can't make the dates?
If you’re unable to attend the main Try Tyee event then please email membership@grousetyee.com. We’ll do our best to arrange an alternative Try Tyee date, subject to availability.
Is there a cost?
Yes, the Try Tyee registration fee includes a ski lift ticket for the participating athlete(s) and one additional ski lift ticket for an accompanying adult from the same family.
This ensures both the athlete and a family member can be on the mountain at the same time.
**Please note that if Try Tyee is hosted at Whistler then lift tickets are not included.
Can I get a refund?
Try Tyee Fees are non-refundable.
Once payment has been submitted, no refunds will be issued under any circumstances, including withdrawal from tryouts or failure to attend.
This policy ensures fairness and consistency for all participants and helps cover administrative and operational costs associated with organizing tryouts.
